rhetoric review

Feelings, what a word.
I love words.
I like writing reviews on words.

So I decided to write on feelings. Because I have so many of them. I was reading in a magazine Wednesday while waiting in the doctors office to have stitches out and to hear the GOOD NEWS of no cancers, YEAH, and WHEW. And I had this flood of FEELINGS come over me.
Feelings of Gratitude--- capitol necessary--- and feelings of HAPPY --- ALL CAPS NECESSARY. Because I am feeling happier than I have in a long time.
Yes, maybe it is a medically induced happiness, but never the less, it is happy.

And I realized how much control I have over my feelings.
I can feel jealous,
I can feel attitude,
I can feel indifferent,
I can feel hope,
and irritation,
and insignificant,
and top of the world,
and amazing,
and ridiculous laughing at myself
and rolling in pleasure,
all these feelings,
at the drop of a second.

And it all has to do with my id; My personal inner desire to feel something.

But what I am most thankful for is that I CAN FEEL. I can have feelings, and whether easy or difficult, I FEEL SOMETHING. That is more important than the actual feeling.

So, today I am so thankful to have feelings. I am thankful to be mellowing out. And I am happy to have so many amazing people to share these FEELINGS with.

Thanks for reading, and for being a part of why I am feeling the way that I am.

aMAZing!

Amy Walker does 21 accents in two minutes is certainly amazing, yet, WHY I ask, WHY and how would you be able to remember your native verse after mesmerizing audiences with your talent...talk about a split personality.

She says that she tends to slip into character even in her thoughts. That would be scary for me.

Anyhow, if you want an interesting read...or to see/hear her do it [yes both senses are necessary], use the link above. Most interesting is the interview which can be accessed by this NPR link.

She is upcoming, a rising You-Tube star...check her out, it is aMAZing to watch her dialect change, tone, attitude, facial refraction, etc...!

first I am blogging under the influence....and how I was able to post the captcha game on both my blogs and twice on the other......wierd...I don't even remember doing it.

And now, coming to school, standing in long lines for books and parking passes, and then having to CARRY my books. OUCH. Somebody save me from myself.

If I though my "but" needed to heal before. Serious OUCH! I need my bed.

I thought I was ready for this but NO, I actually want to go back to my bed for a serious day or two.

This HURTS.

NPR had an awesome and worth listening RadioWest today....so YES, this is well worth the pain I am in. It was Bill Bishop talking about his new book "The Big Sort".

I will be picking it up and hopefully getting a review written about it.

Talk was about how we sort ourselves in America.

Like forming Tribes based on self-perpetuation and Political Partisan, yes CAPS are necessary.

The clustering of like-minded Americans is definatly tearing our American diversity apart.

We want to live by our like minded selves. So selfish.

And this very bland human experiment is one we are doing to ourselves.

What are the forseen social consequences?

Are we a polarized America?

With so many choices, yet we choose to be bland; to live dormatory lives. yuk!

Should be a good read! I will let you know!!!

Now, off my butt to the 2nd floor for a two hour class in a hard chair.

Sounds like a pain....well, you know!

Happy day....to all, and to all, a warning...I am back, and I am under the influence.

WANNA PLAY???

CAPTCHA GONE WILD!!!!

yes, please ;]

Beautiful Artwork!

David Bowman: has had a passion for art ever since he could pick up a pencil. He loves creating images of the Savior that inspire and uplift. Along with his Christian fine art, David has also written and illustrated a series of scripture storybooks for children titled "Who's Your Hero". Check out his website at www.bowman-art.com to see more of his precious art.

"Innocence"
The Savior tells us we need to become as little children to inherit the kingdom of God. I've often wondered what it is about little children Jesus loves most, and I think its their innocence. They are clean slates, seeing the world and others through untarnished eyes. Their hearts are pure, without the baggage of cynicism and self-doubt. In this piece, I've tried to imagine how a child would act upon meeting the Master for the first time. Without reservation or inhibition, I think he would simply want to play with Him. He would be at complete ease, allowing his pure little heart to soak in the love and laughter of His pure, infinite heart. Its no wonder Christ delights in these little ones and sets them up to be our examples.

"Security"
One of the greatest human needs is a sense of security. In all aspects of life, we naturally gravitate towards anything that makes us feel safe. In this piece, I wanted to convey a sense of complete peace and calm like only the Savior can provide. It's a security that allows us to rest assured, without fear or worry, when we put ourselves trustingly in His arms. Little children have that inherent kind of trust in their parents, so it's fitting that the man and girl who modeled for "Security" are actually father and daughter. They generated
the exact feel I was looking for.

"My Child"
This piece conveys an intimate, up-close-and-personal feeling of the Savior's love. Notice how all the lines draw your attention and point towards Jesus' face in the center. I chose the name "My Child" because the only thing that could compare (even remotely) to Christ's compassion for us is the love of a parent for his/her child. This image is also intended to put things in perspective. Above all, we are God's children first. He allows us the privelege of experiencing parenthood for ourselves and we are entrusted to be the mothers and fathers of His children.

on marriage

'Will you, um, marry me?' I haven't seen you in weeks! You don't look happy or excited about the prospect of our marriage! You're asking me to give up my - my freedom, my joie de vivre for an institution that fails as often as it succeeds? And why should I marry you anyway? I mean, why do you wanna marry me? Besides some bourgeois desire to fulfill an ideal that society embeds in us from an early age to promote a consumer capitalist agenda?
