Come What May

"The basic requirements for enduring to the end
include knowing who we are,
children of God with a desire to return
to His presence after mortality;
understanding the purpose of life,
to endure to the end and obtain eternal life;
and living obediently with a desire
and a determination to endure all things,
having eternal vision.
Eternal vision allows us to overcome
opposition in our temporal state and,
ultimately, achieve the promised rewards
and blessings of eternal life."

- Robert D. Hales, “Behold, We Count Them Happy Which Endure,”

Good reminder. I like the picture. Don't we all feel like that sometimes!

on marriage

'Will you, um, marry me?' I haven't seen you in weeks! You don't look happy or excited about the prospect of our marriage! You're asking me to give up my - my freedom, my joie de vivre for an institution that fails as often as it succeeds? And why should I marry you anyway? I mean, why do you wanna marry me? Besides some bourgeois desire to fulfill an ideal that society embeds in us from an early age to promote a consumer capitalist agenda?
