Here is a link, above, to a blog I love,
one that has helped me
 to hopefully
be preparing to be prepared.

I have to teach RS on Sunday,
and I prayerfully decided that the lesson will be
Covenants and Resolutions...

As I am preparing I am seeking to find things
that are inspiring to our preparation,
spiritually and temporarily.

The thought on the Safely Gathered In blog this morning inspired me so much,
I wanted to share with you all.

Also, a tip from our preparations:
72 hour kits for my kids to have at school
is something that I have been told
by so many they would not have thought of.

They are a simple gallon zip lock,
included in them as follows:

snacks; beef jerky, granola, candy,
a water bottle,
a letter from Mom and Dad,
letters from siblings are also fun!
pictures of family,
a small Book of Mormon,
emergency information.

The bag fits well in their desk,or in their locker!, and I know that they have something to remind them that they are loved.

They have never needed them, but I know that I am teaching them about being prepared each year when I send them, and when they bring them home on the last day and rip into the snacks that they have been wanting all year.

The letters are a wonderful addition to the end of school year routine.
The kids know they are loved, thought of and that they need to always be prepared.

I had one couple at church mention that they now have these type of kit at work, with a letter to them from the other.

So, there is another idea....give them
as a New Year gift to the honey working so hard for the family.

....I am off to make one for my sweetheart...with notes from the kids.

And with the glore of Christmas goodies in the house, it shouldn't be hard to prepare.

Love to you all.
Hope you have a wonderful

Happy New Year!

I will check out those blogs. And I'm so impressed you're already working on your lesson! I never look at mine until the weekend of but, to be fair, I can only teach out of the manual and not bring in any outside stuff (other than personal experience) so it's easy for me.

I love the idea of the emergency kits at schools and tried to initiate a program to create them for my children's elementary. The City officials denied my offer. They told me that the schools already have sufficient supplies for emergencies. (Hogwash.) Then I found out that what they considered an emergency kit was a bottle of water and a granola bar. So, I approached the PTA, telling them I would fund raise, supply the workforce, anything to get BETTER kits available and I was told by the school that their space was limited and they could not keep the kits at school. So, the only way we could do this was if the kids took the kit to school in their backpacks EVERYDAY and then back home EVERYDAY.

on marriage

'Will you, um, marry me?' I haven't seen you in weeks! You don't look happy or excited about the prospect of our marriage! You're asking me to give up my - my freedom, my joie de vivre for an institution that fails as often as it succeeds? And why should I marry you anyway? I mean, why do you wanna marry me? Besides some bourgeois desire to fulfill an ideal that society embeds in us from an early age to promote a consumer capitalist agenda?
