I just realized in reading this that my grandsons probably don't know what one is either. I actually still have one and a couple hundred tapes for it. I wish I had another one for when this one wears out.

We have a VCR as part of our dvd recorder, so we can put our old VHS tapes on harddrive. Our little kids stuck things in the VHS and it broke. :( I kind of liked the VHS tapes because they are harder for kids to break than dvds.

They have a way of making us feel old, don't they!

We actually still have a little TV with a built in VCR and my kids think it is SO COOL!

on marriage

'Will you, um, marry me?' I haven't seen you in weeks! You don't look happy or excited about the prospect of our marriage! You're asking me to give up my - my freedom, my joie de vivre for an institution that fails as often as it succeeds? And why should I marry you anyway? I mean, why do you wanna marry me? Besides some bourgeois desire to fulfill an ideal that society embeds in us from an early age to promote a consumer capitalist agenda?
